In today’s German Shepherd world, reputation alone is not enough.
There are many breeders who are highly visible, highly marketed, and highly reputed — but reputation does not automatically equal preservation. Titles imported from Europe, flashy pedigrees, and social media presence can create an illusion of quality. What truly matters is something far more difficult:
Do they actually work their dogs and title them ?
Do they maintain strong female lines?
Do they breed on a small scale with intention?
Do they follow SV or functional working standards?
Are they producing balanced, long-lived, structurally sound dogs instead of just focusing on looks or extreme drives?
Do they go above and beyond in studying blood lines, pedigree etc and plan every litter instead of just breeding 2 V of VA rated dogs or 2 IGP 300 dogs?
Do they go above and beyond in getting their dogs all necessary health tests clearances ?
This list is a deliberately filtered selection of breeders who align with those principles.
We have purposefully not selected programs that:
Primarily import titled dogs and resell litters
Operate at high volume
Do not actively work or title their breeding stock
Focus on marketing over preservation
Neglect maintaining strong maternal lines
Even though such breeders can produce good dogs and do all necessary health tests and titles for their dogs, we strongly believe a small scale breeder who is very involved in the breed world, knows each of their individual dogs strength and weaknesses and has maintained a strong female line generation after generations is the best bet.
